bimodal distribution

Terms from Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data

A bimodal distribution has two main peaks or modes. This often happens when there is a mixed population consisting of two distinct groups with different characteristics. Educators may be familiar with this in courses with more formal or mathematical materials; there is often a group that 'gets it' and has marks clustered towards the high grades, while the rest have marks clustered towards the lower end of the range.
